My name is Matthew Smith and I am a painter from Beckley, West Virginia. I use paint to portray chromatic and narrative driven pictures. My work explores dreams of fantastic creatures and places that satisfy my desire to uncover something new in the world. The central idea behind my work is that there is always something unexpected and beautiful hidden just out of view and I’m trying to catch a glimpse of it before it runs away.
