WEST SIDE ARTSPARK MURAL FENCE PROJECT - Request for Qualifications
The West Side ARTsPARK Mural Fence Project, in partnership with the West Virginia Creative Network and Marigold Creative Reuse Co. will commission up to EIGHT artists to create outdoor mural panels approximately 72” by 96” for the new ARTSPARK MURAL FENCE located in Charleston, WV’s West Side at 425 Washington Street West. The artwork should be appropriate for all ages and for public display; central themes of the artworks should incorporate themes of creativity, growth, community, and inspiration.
The artwork will be painted on polytab mural fabric, installed, and displayed upon metal fence panels surrounding the lot at 425 Washington Street, West next door to Echo-Lit, LLC. The installation and decoration of the mural fence is the first phase of the creation of an outdoor green space that celebrates the arts, creativity, and community which will serve as a hub for arts activities in the future.
Eligibility: This opportunity is open to artists working or residing in West Virginia.

Semi-Finalists Proposal Award: Five to eight artists from the applicant pool will be selected to prepare a design/drawing of their proposed artwork to be created for this project. Artists selected to create a proposal will be paid $200 for their proposal.
Project Budget: This project is funded through grant funds from the WV Creative Network; The City of Charleston, WV Hearts of the Neighborhood Grant; et al. Total project budget monies are set for start-to-finish production of project deliverables. The ARTsPARK Mural Fence Project Committee will recommend five to eight artist finalists to the WV Creative Network for approval.
Each artist will be awarded a commission of $1,000 to create their proposed artwork. This amount includes all artist fees and installation of the completed artwork on the mural fence by Saturday, February 28, 2025. Supplies for this project (polytab fabric, paint, and other miscellaneous supplies) will be provided for this project by the grantors. Studio space will be provided at 427 Washington Street W (Echo-Lit, LLC) upon request and by arrangement.
