The Dickinson Group would like to commission a local artist to create indoor artwork at the entrance of their new offices at 170 Summers Street. The selected artist will be paid $5,000 to create this artwork.

From the artists who apply, three semi-finalists will be selected to prepare a design/drawing of their proposed artwork to be created at the office. Those artists will be paid $500 to prepare their proposals.

From those three proposals one artist will be selected by The Dickinson Group and will be awarded a commission of $5,000 to create their proposed artwork.

The space for the artwork is 8’ high and 12’ long (see images of the space below).  It is the first thing a visitor sees when they exit the elevator. The art should reflect the Dickinson Group’s history in the Valley as well as their vision for the future. This would encompass the Dickinson Group’s beginnings in the salt industry which then took them into other natural resources such as coal, gas and timber. Banking was also a big part of their business history. Currently the Dickinson Group is involved in natural resources, renewable energy, real estate development and private equity. They have been very philanthropic in the region as well. Their commitment to the community is strong. The Dickinson Group has been a major funder of the Clay Center, the CAMC Cancer Center, the new Kanawha County Public Library, as well as many organizations that support basic needs of residents of the Valley.
